(Per United Press Association;) OAMARU, May 30. The Winter meeting of the North Otago Jockey Club took place to-day in fine weather, and there was a good attendance. The sum. of £1914 went through the totalisator. Results : — Newborcugk Hurdles. One mile and threequarters. — Waikaia, 10.10, 1 ; Voltaire, 11.12, 2 ; Clinker, 10.0, 3. Won by a length. Time, 3min dosec. Dividend, £1 18s. "Winter Handicap. Sis furloiigs. — !My Lord, 5.5, 1; Lakefield, 8.1, 2; Valentine, 8.0, 3. Five others started. "Won easily by two lengths. Time, lmiu 22 i-ssec. Dividend, £10 Us. President's Handicap. About one mile and a-quarlcr. — Nihilist, 8.6, 1; Proposal, 6.9, 2; Galileo, 6.11, 3. Two others ran. Won by half a length. Time, 2rnui 26% sec. Dividend, £3 17s. Champion Trot. Two miles.— Teddy, 40sec, 1 ; Terry, 40seo, 2 ; Monte Carlo, 2sec, 3. Ten others started. "Won easily by any~tKstance. Time, smin SOsec. Dividend, £3 Is. The Hack Selling Race was won by Lakefield, paying JE2 14s. Flying Handicap. Five furlongs.— Goldspur, 7.9, 1 ; Conqueror, 9.3, 2 ; Vanilla, 7.10, 3. Four others started. Won by half a length after a great race. Dividend, £3 13s. The Mount Ida Chronicle states that Mr D. J. Stewart, of Naseby, is at present serv"ing in South Africa as a trooper in the New; South Wales contingent. Twenty men from Oamaru are to be sent to the Otago Central railway. On his retirement from the Railway department, after 22 years' service, Mr James Japp (ex-guard of Tapanui branch) was presented by the staff of railway B shed with a handsome gold alberfc as a mark of their ■ estseia.
