BENEVOLINT INSTITUTION TRUSTEES.

The weekly meeting of the trustees of the Benevolent Institution held on the 21st was attended by Messrs C. Haynes (in the chair), R. Watson, R. Wilson, P. Treseder, and the Hon. H. Gourley.

Accounts amounting to £121 11s 8d were passed for payment.

The Secretary reported that the expenses cf the institution for the past month amounted to £238 8s 7d. There were 246 inmates, and the average cost was 4s lOJd.

Tenders were opened for supplies, and the following were accepted : — Medicines, B. Bagley and Sons ; potatoes, F. Meenan ; bread, James Walker ; funerals, Wynn and Hope ; boots, A. and T. Inglis ; milk, W. Faulds (Green Island) ; coal and firewood, J. Swan ; meat, W. Patrick. Tenders for groceries were referred to the Finance Committee to report at next meeting. Some 12 relief cases were dealt with.

One of the old-age pensioners at the Thames is 96 years of age, and is fatlll strong enough to go for his pension.
