BOWLING.

Secretaries arc requested to fornard particulars ofeames played jtTiQ of fortiicouiin^ n.dtclics.

Thursday saw the last of the "Dewar" bowls competition on the Jleadowbank gicen. At 2.30 p.m. the position was — Mollison, Stevenson, Dv Don, and Hobert Edwards a bye. The draw resulted in — Mollison plays Stevenson ; Dr Don a bye. Molhson was in great form, and disposed of the redoubtable "William" •rather easily. Edwards was supposed, with Ms handicap of six, to be likely to give "Ben" a good run for it, but the fates were against "Robin," and he fell heavily. At this time "Ben" was playing like a champion. It was then arranged that Mollison should give four to the doctor, and the game — 14 heads — 'commenced. There was a good deal of sympathy for the doctor, for "Ben," on his afternoon play, was fit even to down Martin. The youthful bowler certainly looked anything but self■confident, and his hand shook so that he could not cut up his tobacco. Mr Fleming having generously offered to fill his pipe, for which he was graciously thanked, the first head was called one for "ißen." The second head gave two for the doctor, and the third one for *'Ben." The doctoi scored in the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh heads, -and the eiglith Lead added one to "Ben's" score, but from that -fcill -the fourteenth head the doctor got therr every time, and wan handsomely. The &reen was enthusiastic over the win, and the doctor received hearty congratulations, and the beauty of it was that nobody applauded louder than did Beiu Mollispn. — Oanraru 'Mail.
