D.J.C. COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club, held on the Bth, was attended by the Hon. G. M'Lean (in the chair), Messrs Myers, Taggart, Hazlett, Grindley, Thomson, Ponsonby, Coughlan, Vigers, Mills, and Miller. Apologies were received from Messrs Solomon and Carr.

It was resolved to sell to Mr L. C. Hazlett one acre at Wingatui for training stables.

Ten new members were elected

It was unanimously resolved that a cordial invitation be forwarded to the members of the fourth contingent to attend the races.

It was decided that the accommodation for the luncheon room be considerably enlarged and improved, so as to seat double the number as formerly, and that arrangements be made with Miss Murray, who has given 'such satisfaction at previous meetings, to undertake the supervision of this department. The secretary was instructed to have the Governor's box fitted up in the grand stand. ~" In view of the large attendance which is expected at the races *on account of so many visitors being in town in connection with the send-off of the contingent, it was decided to urge the Railway department to agree to the time table as suggested by the committee.

A special meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club Committee, held on Monday, was attended by the Hon. G. M'Lean (in the chair), Messrs Carr, Thomson, Ponsonby, Hazlett, Coughlan , Grindley, Solomon, Miller, and Mills.

The question of the date of the third day's racing was fully considered, and it was decided not to interfere with the Trotting Club's meeting on Thursday, 22nd. _ The committee will, however, postpone their third day's racing to Monday, 26th inst., but should any unforeseen circumstances prevent the contingent having their send-off on Saturday, 24th, the races will be continued on that day as advertised.

The President reported that lie had inter\iewed the officers of the fourth contingent, and they had accepted the c-lub's invitation to attend tiie races on Cup Day (Wednesday), gist. The majority of the contingent will at-

tend with their horses, and go through certain drill at the course.

It was resolved to also invite the members of the fifth contingent, who will travel by train.

It was decided, with the approval of the contingent, that a Hurdle Race of about one mile be added to the first day's programme; the race to be open to contingent horses only and ridden by members in uniform, over four flights of hurdles, no weight under 12st. The rider of the winner is to receive a trophy. The whole profits on the race are to go to the fourth contingent, to provide comforts on the voyage. The committee, recognising the importance of this race, decided that it should start immediately after the Dunedin Cup, and that the officers of the contingent should take control of and start it. The railway traffic manager notified that the department had agreed to the time-table as submitted by the club, also to stop the 10.50 out train at the 'Cattleyards. The timetable appears in our advertising columns.
