DUNTROON.

March 12. — The weather has been fine this week ; but rather windy, some stiff breezes having been in evidence, and - stoppingthe mills. However, most of the threshing is done now around Duntroon, the stooks having been replaced in. many instances with sheep, and stacks of straw rearing up their heads all over the place. The weather is rather too dry, as turnips and grass, as well as tanks, are showing the drought badly. °

Runaway. — On Tuesday last, 6th inst., a horse and trap belonging to Mr R. Sutherland bolted from the front of Mr Johnstone's (blacksmith). The horse came off uninjured ; but the trap sustained some damage, both shafts being broken' as well as some parts of the body of the vehicle, fortunately/ no one was in the trap at the'time, the horse being just yoked up. The Tokorahi. — I had a stroll over- the hills to Tokorahi the other day to look at the crops.- I did not go far, as I had not much time for walking about. I see that cutting has now become general over that -way, and on down through to Ngapara ; and some mills are threshing; but a lot of grain is still uncut. However, another week like last one — -iine and windy — and the stuff will practically be all in the stook.
