ALLEGED ATTEMPT AT MURDER. NAPIER, March 12.
A case of attempted murder is reported from Omahu, near Hastings. # Ropata, a Native, assaulted his wife, Ari'ti Teni (from whom he had been separated for some time owing to domestic quarrels), with an axe, inflicting severe wounds on her arm and on the back of her head. Several Natives interfered and secured Ropata, who was handed over to the police. The injured woman was removed to the hospital, where her depositions -will be taken to-day.
