UNION FOOTBALL CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Union Football Club was held last Friday at Cummings's Caledonia Hotel. There were between 30 and 40 members present, and Mr J. Hope (vicepresident) occupied the chair.

The report showed that the first fifteen last year -played 11 matches in' the Senior Flag contest, winning three, drawing four, and losing three, and that in the Junior Flag contest, the olub's A team finished only one point behind the winning team. The balance sheet, read by the treasurer (Mr H. Harris), showed that the receipts amounted to £42 10s 4d, and the expenditure to £40 2s 2d, leaving a credit balance of £2 8s 2d.

The Chairman expressed the opinion that the, JgftQrt ffias & fairly, f. oyoutabjg pj# Jakeu^

as a whole. The First Fifteen had not won quite as many matches as they would have libed, and they had not come up to the standard they had expected they would. The junior teams, however, were a very great credit to the club. Possibly, had it not been that their ranks were weakened by drafting into the First Fifteen, they would have done even better.

Mr J. Robson referred to the fact that a member of the club, Mr Logan, was going- with the contingent lo South Africa. They should feel proud that they were to be represented in the field, and he was sure that Mr Logan would not disgrace the club he belonged to. A regrettable circumsiance that had happened last season was the loss the Kaikorai Club had sustained by the death of Armit. They all sincerely regretted the kiss —a loss to Otago and to New Zealand. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The following office-bearers were elected: — President, Dr Batch elor ; vice-presidents, Messrs J. H. Chapman and J. Hope; secretary, Mr R. On the motion of Mr Robson it was resolved that a letter be sent to the Kaikorai Club expressing regret at the sad accident that had befallen one of their members, the late A. M. Armit. The cap? won by Messrs A. Walker. J. Adams, A. Beadle, and E. Rowlatt were then presented amid mucli applause, and a vote of thanks to the chair closed the meeting.
