IN THE FREE STATE.
CAPETOWN, March 6. The late besiegers of Lidysmith are recuperating on the Transvaal border. LONDON, March 5.
It is anticipated that General Joubert will have great difficulty in concentrating 35,000 troops in the Free State. There are 5000 Boers belonging to the Ladysmitn and Oolesberg commandos at Abraham's Kraal.
General French frustrated an attempt of a body of Boers to trek north-westwards from his position. LONDON,. March 6.
Lord Roberts' s sixth and seventh divisions and a mounted force are south of the- Modder River. The ninth, division a,nd Cavalry Brigade are north of the river, where it is plain country and grass and water are abundant.
Four thoxisand Boers are isolated on kopjes surrounded by open level country south of the river, and a smaller body near General French. *
