The weather for the Slimmer meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club was beautifully fine, and the attendance' was slightly better than at last yoar's meeting. The racing was very good, the majority of the events being closely contested. The sum of £4253 was passed through the totalisator. Ben Farley was the first away,, but immediately gave way to Dundas, who, at the mile post, was joined by Cameo, and the pair went on well clear of Ben Farley and Skobeloff. At the six-frirlong post Dundas had drawn away, from Cameo, but as they swept round the top turn the whole field took fairly close order. When their heads were fairly turned for home there was^little to choose between Dundas, Skobeloff, and Cameo, after whom came Ben Farley and Strathnairn. Dundas retired just before reaching the distance post, where Cameo and Ben Farley were almost together. Ben Farley then began to draw away, and despite a determined challenge from Skobeloff he ran home a comfortable winner by half a length, while Skobeloff finished two lengths in advance of Djin-Djin. The attendance of the public was only fair, but the racing was generally interesting and enjoyable. Though Benzoin dropped out of the Champion Plate, the two remaining in were recognised to be in the very first flight. Screw Gun's win was naturally popular, but both horses received ovations on returning to the paddock. There was a slight popular demonstration of disapproval when First Blood won the Flying Handicap, after his running on Thursday, and in the "Welter a protest on the ground of inconsistent running was dismissed.
