LAND BOARD.

The weekly nleeting of the Land Board was held at the Land Office on Wednesday, and was attended by the Chief Commissioner (Mr J. P. Maitland),- and Messrs Clark, Dallas, Duncan, anl liirkpatrick. D. Reid, jun., on behalf of Charles and William Todd, applied for sections 11 and 12, block V, Town of Bastings. — To be ofiered at auction at iipset of £5 per section. The following applications for transfer were approved: — Section 5, block XVIII, Maniototo, Robert Bailey to E. Whitehead; section 10; block VII, Swinburn, George Sutherland to John Pont; section 12, block XIV, Maungatua, Heenan's exeexvtors to James Baxter; sections i and 18, block I, Gimmerburn, Ann Docherty to Patrick F. Docherty. The Under-secretary for Lands wrote requesting that steps be taken to terminate the yearly license held by Robert Robinson over section 137, block 11, Ardgowan estate, the section being required as a site for a dairy factory. — Notice to be given accordingly ; license to terminate on April 1. Jasper Newman applied, tinder Land for Settlements Act, for sections 23 and 24, Janefield settlement. — Consideration deferred for a, week. Andrew Crawford applied to be allowed to acquire section 10, Janefield settlement.— - G-ranted. Peter M'Erleane wrote re valuation for improvements on run 261k, Gimmerburn, asking to be refunded portion of amount paid by him, as the fence had been considerably destroyed since the valuation was made. — It was agreed to allow Is per chain under the circumstances. The Receiver of Land Revenue reported that the following holders of yearly licenses had failed to renew their rentals: — Wm. Mitchell, Pomahaka, No. 733 ; W. H. Lewis, Otakia, No. 750 ; A. Donaldson, Dunkeld, No. 812 ; J. Bremner, Balclutha, No. 838; A. M. Moncur, Woodland, No. 952; W. J. Holt, Clyde, No. 985; Wm. Fraser, Fraser district, No. 1031.— Li; censes declared lapsed. License over section 1, block TV, Woodland, previously held by J. Reany, having expired, the ranger was instructed to report as to how the section should be dealt with. John Harley applied to transfer sections 4 and 5, block V, Blacksfcone, to Jas. Clouston. — Board will* favourably consider application, on payment of arrears of rent. W. W. Masters applied for license to occupy seven acres north of Nevis township. — Granted at yearly rental of 6d per acre. Alex. Truesdale applied to be allowed to complete purchase of deferred payment section 7, block 111, Lander. — Approved. Thos. Chalmer, on behalf of William Barnetson, applied for about 200 acres of section 9, block XII, Stiath-Taieri.— Referred to the ranger for leport.
