THE CABLES QUESTION.
WELLINGTON, February 26. The Premier has received the following from the Canadian Premier: —
" The Canadian Government consider that the granting of the terms proposed to the Eastern Telegraph Company, even when the Pacific cable is laid, will seriously affect its financial prospects and impair • the usefulness of the Pacific -line.' T-he present scheme of action proposed material alterations in the conditions fixed by the 'Go ' vernment for a former Pacific cable partner ship, and may endanger the scheme. Thej hope that there will" be no change without the consent of every partner."
