THE FORTROSE BANK ROBBER.

AN ARREST MADE.

INVERCARGILL, February 21,

A telegram just received states that a man has been arrested at Fortrose for the robbery of £500 from the Bank of New Zealand.' Most of the money has been recovered.

The man arrested for the Fortrose bank robbery is Jno. Trembath. Pie had been in business as a saddler, occupying a shop m the same building as the bank premises. A fire destroyed that and other buildings some time ago, and Trembath was closely examined as to his actions, stock, etc" He was in monetary difficulties, and had not been carrying on business lately. Having been, under the same* roof as the bank, he had cognisance of the procedure of the agent who visited to transact business. Trembath was brought before the justices at Wyndham, and remanded till the 2nd prox., bail, which was forthcoming, being fixed at £400 in all.
