(From Oxjr Own Correspondent.) LYELL, February 23. The Mine Manager of "the Alpine mine reports as follows:—The No. 7 fevel has been redriven 19ft for the week, making a total distance of 134 ft. We have now got the solid face. The walls are sft apart and well denned, but there is* no stone in the face at present. ' Six men are still raising and cross-cutting over No. 7 level, but so far nothing of any value ' has been discovered. The drive from the winzo below jSTo. 10 level south has been driven soxifch for a distance of 10ft. The reef is 4ft wide at the bottom and 9ft -at the top of the drive. la the winze below No. 11 north the solid sfcope has been driven lift for the week, making the total distance driven from the winze 21ft. The reef is small and broken at present. For the week 70 tons have been sent to the battery. The battery returns are SOoz amalgam from ISO tona top plates only.
