Notes from Central Otag o.

(From Cur Own Correspondent.} February 16. The Bonanza mine is reported to be on good stone, and the recent rain has given a good supply of water, so that the prospects have a rose-coloured hue. Messrs Cunningham and pa^-ty have not yet ' got a start, as their dam has been carried away, j and it will take some two months to repair it. j The Golden Point battery has had a thorough ( overhaul. The race has been put in order, and a start having been made the mill continues to grind out gold and scheelite. This is the only mine in New Zealand that exports the mineral scheelite. During the last year there ha 3 been exported 100 tons of the mineral, which has given a very handsome return. One of the owners is on his way to England and the Continent in order to inquire into the use 3 and markets for the ore with a view to negotiating direct with the manufacturers. The Highlay mine is on good stone, and, with a good supply of water, is giving good returns.
