L., Cardrona 100 AUCKLAND, February 24. _ At the military carnival at the Domain in. aid of the patriotic fund over 1000 volunteers were under arms. About 13,000 of the public visited the grounds. The Governor and staff were present. The Rough Eiders Contingent dismounted, led the march past the Governor, and were cheered to the echo. A sham fight, British v. Boers, took place in which a kopja was carried by a British cavalry charge of mounted rifles. The permanent force worked two Maxims, and A Battery had two guns iD action. PALiWERSTON NORTH, February 24. A gift auction sale to-day realised £83 12* 2d for the Transvaal relief fund.

The reply received to an application for a special train\ to Dunedin to enable residents to Fee the volunteers in camp and the floral fete was to the effect that a guarantee of £77 17s must be forthcoming.
