PRODUCE REPORT.
T. E. Shiel and Co. report for the week ending February 21 — Wheat.—Demand dull unless for prime samples. We quota best velvet and Tuscan, 23 6d to 2s 7d; medium, 2a sd; seconds, Is lid lo 2<3; good fowl wheat, 2s to 2s Id; inferior and bioken, Is 6d to Is 9d (sacks weighed in). Oats.—Good shipping parcels of stout oats are in demand; other sorts neglected. We quote: Prime milling, 2s Id; stout feed, 2s OJd; Danish-, 1& -lid; inferior and medium, Is 8d to Is 9d (all Backs extra).
Chaff. —Best heavy, well-cut oaten sheaf, 60s (with good demand); medium, £2 12s 6d to £2 153; light and inferior, £2 2s 6d to £2 7s 6d. : Potatoes. —Supplies in excess of demand. We I quote: Best kidneys, £2 7s 6d to £2 10s; stale I and inferior, £2 to £2 2s 6d; Derwents (now j saleable) we quote £2 12s 6d to £2 15s. j Salt Butter. —Demand for export continues at late quotations. We advise holders to forward as soon as made to our address (care Cool Stores, Port Chalmers). By so doing thoy may save ljd per lb, the difference between first and third grade. This will compensate many times over for any extra freight incurred in sending small lots. I Butter boxes, well seasoned, with best vegetable parchments, 17s per dozen, on truck Dunedin. Onions: We quote 5s to 5s 3d per cwt. Pigs. —Excellent demand for good bßconers (1301b to 1601b) at 3'jd per lb. Poultry. —Supplies large, and values lower. , We hold special auction sales every Friday at 10 o'clock. Competition ensures full market rates. Birds should reach us on Thursday. Craies sent if required. Fruit. —We receive and sell by auction or privately every description of fruit and garden produce. Extended inarkefc report published every Saturday will be posted to any address on application to those who have anything in these lines to dispose of. It will be useful.
