OBITUARY.

Another old identity, in the person of Mrs Daniel O'Connell, parsed away on Friday morning at her residence at Seacliff. The deceased, with her husband, who came to the colonies in the early &ixties, i& the mother of 10 — five boys and five girls. Mrs John Sheehy (Moonlight), Mrs P. Kelly (Oamaru), Mrs P. Toomey (Waikouaiti), and Mrs Harry Coughlan (Dunedin), are the daughters and the boys are Mr James and John O'Oonnell, cheesemakers, — all of whom are well known and respected throughout Otago. Mr Oharleo Reid, of Flag Swamp, one of the fast-diminishing baud of early settlers, died at his residence on the Bth inst., after a short illness. Born in Scotland, Mr Reid came to the colony in the early sixties, and after working in the Taieri for wme time and carting eoods to the goldrlelds, he settled down to farming at Flag Swamp, from which he retired a fow years ngo and took up his residence at Hawksbury Bush. The deceased gentleman gained some distinction in the early days m^ ploughing matches, in which he "carried oil several honour*. Mr Reid married in 1868, and leaves a wife and two daughters — both .grown up and one married, — his only s>on having predeceased him about two years ago. Mr T. H. Bell, confectioner. Clyde, and a very old resident, died on Friday morning. He leaves a wHow — a sister of Mr Benjamin Naylor, Clyde, — but no family.
