WELLINGTON, February 15. At a meeting held at Masterton to-day-it was decided to provide a full equipment for two Masterton men who have been selected in the Wellington district contingent, also to devote the remainder of the local fund available to equipping 12 additional men to be trained locally for service in South Africa. It is expected that a local contingent will also be raised in South Wairarapa, where a monster fair in aid of the funds is to be held tomorrow.

I The New Zealand marine engineers, who ' donated £26 5s to the patriotic fund, have now given £20 as a first contribution to the " more men " fund. AUCKLAND, February 13. ' The Rough Riders fund has now reached nearly £2700. The local committee wired to the Premier j offering to send a contingent of 60 men , from Auckland, and asking whether three I officers can accompany the Rough Riders ! sent from here, also as to when a troopship will be able to take the contingent. | Sixty men arc in camp at Potter's paddock. Offers are still coming in from all parts of the province. Sixty horses have been examined by the Government veteri- ' nary surgeons. The men are to be tested for shooting by Major White. Mr Dalton, tailor, makes the uniforms of the contingent gratuitously. Te Aroha forwards £66 to the patriotic fund. - j Dr Neil was granted 14 days' leave of absence to proceed to Dunedin to endeavour to obtain the post of surgeon to the fourth contingent. Separate packages contain 650Z extract of ment, three pairs of sox, 21b of chocolate, lib of tobacco, a packet of cigarette, paper, a 2oz packet of tobacco, writing pad, envelopes, ink, pencil, and the Press souvenir card. Mr Stead has received from an anonymous donor £100 towards the war fund. Great preparations are being m;<de for the farewell to the contingent to-morrow. The chief postmaster forwarded £32 0s 9d to the head office fund. ASHBURTON, February 15. The Ashburton section of Rough Riders were given a splendid send-off yesterday. They were invited to a social in the Oddfellows' Hall, where the mayor and leading representative men made patriotic speeches. The hall was crowded, and the streets were lined v ith people. It was announced at the social that Mr Buckley had insured the lives of all the Ashburton men for £250 each. A purse of sovereigns was j>resented to each of the Ashburton men. and special presentations were made to Tucker, Willis, and Upton, members of the contingent. The mayor (Mr Friedlander) and Mr Buckiey subsequently enteitained the men and their relatives at lunch and tea. GREETINGS FROM DUNEDIN. The following telegram was despatched yesterday afternoon to the Mayor of Christchurch : — Mayor being absent at Stewart Island, sincerely regrets inability to attend send-off to third contingent.
