It is a very rare thing to see a flying-fish in tire neighbourhood of Lyttelton Heads, and thip specimen has been sent to the Canterbury Museum. Thousands of dead fish are lying in the bed of the Ngakavau River (pays the Westport Times). The fish are from three to four inches long, how they- died in such great numbers is a mystery.
