THE SOUTH DUNEDIN STABBING CASE.

THE MAGISTERIAL IXQUIRY. ! At the Police Court on the 6th, befoie Mr C. C. Graham, S.M., John Thomas Milbuin, aged 12 years, was charged with, on the sth Febiuary, feloniously killing and murdering a boy named John Cunningham. Sub-irspeotor Kiely, who conducted the prosecution, asked for a remand until Thursday. Mr A. C. Hanlcn, who defended the boy, raised no objostioa, but asked his Worship to allow bail. Tie boy was only 32 years of age, and, although ho was charged with a serious crime, and one which was not usually bailed, he submitted that, taking into consideration his tender years, and the fact that he would b^ kept under parental control, a difference might be made in this case. Hl3 Worship said it was usual never to grant bail in a case of murder; but in a case UketLis, h° supposed the police would offer no objection. Sub-inspector Kiely said they would not, but he would ask that the bail should not take effect until subsequent to the inquest. Mr Hanlon did not object to that.
