MR MOSS'S YEARLINGS.

The two Wellington Park yearlings that Mr Abe Moss bought for himself hay* been brought to Dunedin, and placed in Harry Goodman's stable. One is the chestnut colt by St. Leger out of Valentinia ; the other the grey colt by Castor from Vivandiere. I propose to call at an parly date and ask leave to look at these yearlings. Meanwhile I may say a word or two about their pedigrees. The grry's sire, Castor, is in my judgment one of the very best looking horses we have ever had in New Zealand, and his mating with Vivandiere is proved to be a good cross, since Three Star and Heavenly Twin are both bred that way, Mr Moss's yearling being full brother to this pair. Son of a Gun is another of Vivandiere's produce, being by Anteros, ond The Dancer and Gallant were also amongst the same mare's rather numerous family. I am not much of a ono for breeding fads ; but must own that whatever advantage it is to stick to running families is an advantage that Mr Moss may expect to hold by selecting this grey. The other yearling is by that great horse St. Leger out of Valentinia, who is sister to All There pnd half-sister to Mars, and descends from the family that gave us Gorton. Seeing that Mr Goodman trained Euroclydon, a son of Gorton, I daresay he likes this breeding.
