I" The meeting of creditors in the estate ot i John Chirnside, of Balclutha, labourer, a bank- •, rupt, -called for Friday afternoon, lapsed for , want of a quorum, no creditors attending. The statement , submitted by the bankrupt showed the total debts to unsecured creditors ' to be £105 9s 6d; to secured, £40 ss; estimated - value of security (assignment of life policy), £40 ss; assets, consisting of furniture, £15^ [ The principal unsecured creditors were: — G-. . F. Mitchell, £20; H. M'Lepd^.. £10, ss;, A. ' Davidson (Dunedrn), £11 ; .John "Anderson, £9 ; i Miss Dunne, £7;. G. Hutchings, £S;C. H". j Wood, £5 11s 6d. Secured, D. Wood, £40 ss. The bankrupt attributed his position to 'the fact of having, contracted debts as far back as 1887, which he had not been able to . liquidate, and to sickness in. his familyfor several years. 1 He "was compelled -to file owing' to- extremo ! steps that had been taken by one creditor. He was married and had eight children, five of ' whom he had to support. The meeting w&» ; adjourned sine die.
