THE AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS.
AGAINST WARWICKSHIRE. LONDON, August 7. The Australians began their match against Warwickshire at Birmingham today. The weather was unsettled, but as the. day advanced it became brighter. Tlie ■wicket was wet, and the attendance about 12,000. Hill, Jones, and Noble are standing out. Warwickshire batted first, and ■were all out for 135 runs. The second wicket fell at 34, and at the luncheon adjournment tkey had lost five wickets for 78. The Australians in their first innings have lost six wickets for 104 runs. August 8. For the second day the weather was fine, the wicket faster, and the attendance good. The Australians continued their innings, and the eighth wicket fell at 200. At luncheon time nine wickets were down for 301. The innings closed for 312 runs. Kelly was at the wickets for two hours and fifty minutes. He never gave a chance. In their second innings Warwickshire lost seven wickets for 196 runs. ■* August 9. The weather was beautiful when play ■was resumed for the third day of the match between the Australians and Warwickshire. The wicket was fast, and the attendance email. The home team were all out for 226, and the visitors, requiring 50 runs to win, obtained these at a loss of one wicket, thus winning the game by nine wickets and 1 run.
