THE OVERDUE WAIKATO. The s.s. Otarama, which arrived at Port Chalmers on Monday, saw nothing of the Waikato on her run across the Southern. Ocean between the Cape and here. Captain Woreter expresses the opinion that if the Waikato has broken down she will drift northward, as the Otarama experienced a succession of strong S. to S.W. winds on the run across. The tTend of the currents ia also northward, bo that there is every chance of her being picked up, provided nothing more serious than a breakdown to her maohinery has occurred. BLUFF, July 18.— Sailed : Star of Victoria, Bteamer, for London. Her cargo consists of 30 casks of tallow and pelts, 136 bales wool and skins, 14,139 crates rabbits, 867 sacks oats, 3843 carcases of mutton, 20 carcases veal, and 3 cases kidneys. The Tokomaru, from Wellington (May 27), arrived at London on the evening of the 16th inst., with her meat in good order. ■ The Waimate, from Port Chalmers (June 1), arrived at Gravesend on the 14th, after a passage of 43 days. The Papanui left Capetown on the 17lh inst. for Auckland, via Hobart. The Tokomaru arrived in London on the 16th inst. Her meat is in good condition. WELLINGTON, July 18— Arrived: Rakaia, from London, via Hobart. The Union Steam Ship- Company's steasner Wakatipu, Captain Neville, from Sydney, "Via Cook Strait,, arrived at Port Chalmers at noon on the 19th with 59 passengers and 371 ons of cargo. She left' the company's wharf at Sydney at 6 a.m. of che 11th inst-, and arrived at Wellington at 11 a.m. of the 16th. The 3.c. Tarawera steamed down to Port Chalmers on the ISth, and was swung for the adjustment of her compasses. After taking in 175 tons of cargo ex the Wakatipu she embarked her passengers and left in the afternoon for Melbourne, via the Bluff and Hobart. The Tyser line steamer Ardandearg, from Lyttelton, arrived at the George street pier, Port Chalmers at 4.10 p.m. on the 19th, and after mating fast commenced to discharge cargo, of which she had between 600 and 700 tons for this port. The Ardandearg is a typical cargc boat. The following vessels have been in harbour during the past week: — Arrivals: Beautiful Star, s.s., 146 tons (twice); Ardandearg, s.s., 3820; Wakatipu, s.s., 1258; Taupo, s.s., 408; Te Anau, s.s., 1028; Waihora, s.s., 1269; Omapere, s.s., 352; — total, 8261 tons. Departures: Talune, s.s., 1303; Janet Nicoll, b.s., 496; Rimu, s.s., 143; Westralia, s.s., 1819; Beautiful Star, s.s., 146 (twice); Tarawera, s.s., 1269; Ardandearg, s.s., 3820; Taupo, s.s., 408; Te Anau, s.s., 1028; Onyx, barque, 403; Southesk, barque, 1154; — total, 11,989 tons. The U.S.S. Company's steamer Waihora, Captain F. Macbeth, from Sydney, via the East Coast ports, with 44 passengers and a quantity of general cargo, arrived at the George street pier at 9 a.m. on Sunday, and steamed up to Dunedin on the afternoon's tide. She left the company'" *ybarf at Sydney at 5 p.m. of the,l2th inst. The New Zealand Shipping Company's fine steamship Otarama, from juondon, via Teneriffe, arrived at Port Chalmers on Monday morning, and anchored in Koputai Bay in order to tranship a quantity of dynamite to the powder cutter. This she was prevented doing until the cutter came down from Dunedin in the afternoon, and it was well on for evening before the Otarama was made fast to the George street pier.
