OWAKA.
One of the most successful gatherings that Jias ever been held in Owaka took place in Paters"bn's Hall on Monday night, when about 800 " assembled, notwithstanding the very 'inclement weather, to bid .farewell to Mr and Mrs Dabinett. Mr Bradfield (chairman) made suitable remarks, after which the Baptist choir rendered the service of song "Frozen to death" to an appreciative audience. The Rev. W. Wingfield, in presenting Mr and Mrs Dabinett with a large and well-filled purse of sovereigns as a token of love and esteem- from • the community, spoke in a yery feeling man- - ncr of the kind services rendered by them. Ap--preciative speeches were given by Messrs Eddie, Wingfield, Young, and Osbourne. Solos were given by Mrs M'Lean and Miss 'Glass, a duet by Mr Jackman and Misses Louden, and organ selections by Mrs Morton and Mia3 txlass. Miss E. Dutton acted as organist in a most efficient manner. An abundance of good things was provided by the ladies, who deserve great credit for the way in which things were carried out. After a most enjoyable evening the meeting was brought to a close by a versa of the hymn " God be with you till we meet again."
