boroughs amounted to 369, against 387 in May, a decrease of 20. The deaths in June were 165, a decrease of 35 on the number in May. Of the total deaths males contributed 89, and females 76. Forty-one of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 24.85 per rent, of the whole number; 35 of these were under one year of age. There were 36 deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards. Seven men 65, 70, 71, 86, and 88 (three), and six women 69, 73, 75, 79, 81, and 90 died at Auckland; seven men, 65, 70, 71, 76, 77 (two), and 85, and one woman, 67, at Wellington y two men, 79 and 87, and two women, 77 and 84-, at Christchurch, and five men, 66, 63, 76, and 77 (two), and six women, 65 (two), 66^ 67, 69, and 74, at Dunedin.

Constablo Roche, of Hawera, has teen nearly 29 years in the police force, and during that time has not had a single black mark againsb him in the records of the force. An abduction case is now before the Bombala (New South Wales) Court in which _ a youth of 21 ran away with and married a girl of 16.
