WELLINGTON, April 12.

Elias Gaudin was fined £15 and costs for tote betting. -. An indemnity certificate was asked for on 'behalf of the police officers who betted with the men in order to obtain evidence, but Mr Kenny, S.M. , said the indemnitj' clause in the act only referred to offences connected with gaming Houses', and declined to give a cci rificate. With regard to the suggestion by Mr Wilfovd, counsel for the defence, that he should give some expression of opinion on the act itself, he considered that would be improper and injudicious. Mr Wilford stated that he had drawn informations against Detective Broberg and Probationary Constables Kicld and Macarthy for conspiring to commit a crime, and asked the court to order their arrest. Mr Kenny refused, as they were only subordinates, but anyone could lay an information. Mr Wilford said this would be done.
