LAND BOARD.

The meeting of the Land Board on Wednesday was attended by the Chief Commissioner (Mr J. P. Maitland), and Messrs Clark, Dallas, Duncan,' and Kirkpatfick. M. Morgan applied for a renewal of license to occupy section 18, block IX, Maungatua. Tompson Lamb also applied on behalf of Walter Smith for a license over the same section; or to be allowed to purchase it for cash. — Referred to Ranger Hughan for report. A. L. M'Allan applied for a small portion of up surveyed land, part of reserve fronting sections 12 and 13, block I, town of Alexandra. — To be offered at auction as soon as the matter -can be arranged, if applicant lodge survey fee. W. Barnetson applied for a license to occupy about 50 acres of the Clutha river bed opposite sections 3 and 13, block 111, Tarras. — Referred to Ranger Mackenzie for report. The following applications were approved: — To withdraw application for transfer, Archibald Parkhill to R. A. Western, sections 1 and 4 to 14, block V, Waynes; lor land on lease in perpetuity, Ellen Saunders, sections 51, 66, and 78, block XIX, Shotover; William Barnetson, section 13, block 111, Tarras; to complete purchase of deferred payment land, F. Rayne, section 17, block VIII, Kurow; to transfer village homestead, Alex. Mason to Henry. Wm. Steven Box, section 15, block IX, Rankleburn. F. Truby King applied to have section 15, block V, Waikouaiti, offered* for sale by auction. — Agreed to, at upset price of £5. William Bremnei applied , to be allowed to plough and lay down in English grass sections 44 and 52, block X, Glenkenich.— To be allowed to take a green crop off land and afterwafdsto sow in English grass. The Perpetual Trustees, Estate, and Agency Company, on behalf of Michael Fennessey, applied to have sections 2, 4, and 5, block I, Kyeburn, and sections 30 and 41, block I, Naseby, grouped and leased as a small-grazing run to him without competition. — Referred to Ranger Atkinson for report. The applications of C. T. Marie < and Joseph Pratt for occupation leases over 23 acres and five acres respectively at Dairy Creek, Leiining Rock district, were declined, the board being of the opinion that the areas applied for may be required for coal-mining purposes. Thomas Chalmer, on behalf of James Wilson, •applied to be- allowed valuation for two acres of turnips upon small-grazing Run 244, Tiger .Hill. — It wp.s agreed that if applicant did not acquire the run the incoming tenant would be called upon to pay valuation for the turnips. application to surrender P. L. 847, section 25, block V, Glenomaru, John Goldsbery, was referred to Ranger Hughan to report. An application to transfer L. I. P. 5595,' section 75, block" I, Oaniara (Ardgowan estate), Winnie Flannery to Peter Flannery, was recommended for the Minister's approval. Charles M'Donnell and J. R. Oliver applied for license to occupy islands in Clutha 'River opposite sections 6 and 7, block 111, Tarras. — Referred to Ranger Mackenzie for report. The statement of proposed expenditure of " thirds " and " fourths " by the WaiheniA County Council was approved. The Receiver of Land Revenue reported thnt the occupiers of tho following forfeited holdings bad now paid arrears : — M. Kearney, P. L. 1078; R. G. Haugh, L. I. P. 762s.— Resolution declaring forfeiture rescinded. Jas. Pane applied to be allowed to purchase his residence area of one acre at Sowburn. — Referred to wavdpn to ascertain whether there is any objection to- section being sold.
