WELLINGTON CUP MEETING.
The Summer meeting of the Wellington Kacing Club takes place on January 21 and £3. The fields, though small, promise to be productive of some good racing. Regret will he expressed at the absence of Mr Stead's crack two-year-old Screw Gun, reported to jhave broken down. Only eight have paid up tfor the Wellington Cup. After his running an. the Auckland Derby I take Explosion to win, with Fulmen second and Cannonshot .third. A mile and a-half is rather too much for Daunt, and the same applies to Red Lanicer. Tupuhi or Female Franchise ought to acount for the Anniversary Handicap, with Brisa as an outsider. The Hurdles should produce a good race between Social Pest and iSabreur. Brennan and Target I take to be the best in the President's Handicap, while Nantes may expect most opposition from Silex an the Nursery. Should Red Lancer be reserved for the Telegraph Handicap, he may gust about win. On his running at the Forbury Nihilist has a fair show with 7.7. In .the absence of Screw Gun, I take Glenolge (to be the best of the Wellesley Stakes candidates. The Wellington Stakes should produce a good race between Jabber and Glenogle.
