. Tho General Synod of' . the Cafcliolia Church, the first held in New Zealatfd, -,wiH be opened in Wellington on tlie 21st inst., and presrded over by Archbishop Bejdwbod. Bishop ; Lenahan, . Dean O'Reilly (bfsh>p's nominee), Dr Eagan (representing the Benedictines), Rev. Father Lightheart (representing the Mill Hill missionaries, who are doing missionary work among the North Island Natives), aud the Rev. Father Gillan (representing the clergy of the diocese), leave here by- the Mokoia to-morrow to attend the synod. Important questions affecting the Catholic Church in this colony will be discussed.
The Dunedin representatives leave bj) Wednesday's steamer. They will be: — Dr'' Verdon, Very Rev. Father Murphy (bishop's theologian), and Rev. Dean Burke, Invercargill (representing the clergy of tha diocese).
