In passing the T.Y.C winning post there was nothing to choose between Nun Nicer, Craftsman, and Hawfinch. Nun Nicer and Craftsman collapsed before reaching the Bushes, and on top of the hill Hawfinch was in slight command from Eager, Merman, Gcorgic, and Dinna Forgot. In the Abingdon Mile Bottom Eager v/as almost spun out, and with Hawfinch being thereupon challenged by Georgic and Dinna Forget, the Austialian mare lost little time in carrying her colours to the fore. Nor was there fiom this point any doubt as to the issue, and with a, gap quickly established, in spite of the strenuous efforts of Dinna Forget, she won very cleverly by a length and a-half, while the latter, dropping back again to Hawfinch in the last few strides, only saved second money by a head, with Eager fourth, Mount Prospect (who pulled up lame) fifth, Merman sixth. Newhaven II seventh, Labrador eighth, Chelandry ninth, Nun Nicer tenth, Northallerton eleventh. Sligo twelfth, Celada (who split a pastern) thirteenth, and Spook and Silver Fox the whippers in. Time, lmin 55 2-ssec. Value of stake, £1685.
