MATAURA.
September 20. — For some weeks paßt we have had lovely weather, with the exception of a few days, -when a bitter east wind was blowing. The farmers have taken advantage of the weather, and made' good progress with their work. Many of them have their seed in the ground. The season so far has been favourable for lambing, and numbers of them are to be Been on the farm's in the interior. Considering the fine weather we have had the grass is lather backward. The manure plant at the freezing works is now in frill operation, and according to all accounts the article produced is good, and already in demand. Suspension Bridge.— The county gang of workmen completed last week the renewing of the suspension bridge, the state of which I referred to in. one o£ my former letters, and have made a first-class job of it, besides adding to it a much-needed passenger bridge, a great convenience to pedestrians, who formerly had often to wait until carts and vehicles got over. The cost to the borough and county is large, but it will not again require repairing 'for many years.
