OTAGO RUGBY UNION.

The weekly meeting of the committee of llio Otago Rugby Union was attended by Me&srs Ggjlaway (president), Wilson, Hunter, Morris, Campbell, Duncan, Harris, Isaacs, l.'jtronnr, and Hutchison. The matter of a try awarded by the referee (Mr N. M'Robie) to the South Canterbury team on the ground of obstruction in the recent match between South Canterbury and North Otago was brought under the notice of the committee by the latter team, and it was decided to appeal to the New Zealand Union against it. Mr F. H. Campbell, referee in the match between Southland and Otago, reported that it had been brought under his notice by the Otago touch judge (Mr H. Harris) at halftime in that match that Armit, of the Otago team, had been guilty of rough play in charging Murphy, the Southland three-quarterback, on one ocoasion after the latter had taken his kick. — Asked as to the circumstances, Mr J-f arris said that after Murphy had taken his kick Armit, who was three or fovir yards away at the time of the kick, charged into him, and that Armit need not have run into him with so much force as he did. — Mr Camppell stated that if he had seen the occurrence as described he would have stopped the game and, it being the first offence, cautioned Armit. — The committee, under these circumstances, decided to take no action in the matter.
