MAORI TEACHERS.
According to a return laid on the table\ there are no members of the Native race emplcyed as teachers in the public schools. In Native schools under the department no pure Maori is employed as a teacher, but there ar9 two half-castes in charge of schools and three half-caste assistants and two assistant between European one! half-caste. In boarding schools receiving Government subsidy there arc two half-caste pupil teachers, one Maori assistant, one half caste Essistant, and oacj half-caste head teacher.
