SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 3
Circulars have reached, certain Auckland members of the right colour notifying that an attempt is to be made to revive the Liberal Association. The circular indicates that the policy of the Liberal Government has not yet brought prosperity or happiness to .the colony, but the association still clings to the hope that the Seddon Government is about to bring about the desired end. The circular is before me, and, in this connection, says: — " That in a short time New Zealand will be a happy and prosperous country." The ■Liberal Association lias also adopted " the ''breeches pocket policy," for it says: — "It has become necessary for the executive to appeal by circular to the Liberal party for funds." It seeks an enlarged subscription list to counteract the intentions of the Auckland Committee. The association also declares that its aims " cannot be accomplished without money, and pathetically adds : "We hope that this appeal will not be in vain."
