TAIERI COUNTY COUNCIL.

| An ordinary meeting of the Taieri County Council held on Friday was attended by tha Chairman (Mr C. Samson), Crs Chi'iholm, Miller, Douglas, Peat, Todd, and Harrison. INSPECTOR'S EErOKT. Mr J. H. AVilson wrote offering a portion of his land in section 30, block XA 7 , Maungatua district, to make the Berwick- AYaipori road. — It was resolved that a copy of the letter be forwarded to tho engineer to report on the matter. A petition was received from a number of residents in Sutton district asking for the erection of a small bridge over the Taieri River. — It was decided to take no action in regard to tho matter. GENERAL. Accounts amounting to £575 12s 2d were passed for payment. It was resolved, on the motion of Cr Harrison, seconded by Cr Peat — "To advertise that action would be taken against persons offending against the council's heavy traffic by-law, unless the license fee was paid before the end of the present month." It was decided to make fresh application to the Lands department for payment of land revenue accrued previous to 1888, of which particulars were sent to the department in March, 1897.
