OTAGO EARLY SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION.
The Ofcago Early Settlers' Association have decided to celebrate tho jubilee of the arrival of the ships Victory, Blundell, and Bernicia, by asking the passengers by these vessels, and their descendants, with their respective wives and husbands, and descendants over the age of 21 years, to meet one another and the association at the Victoria Hall, Agricultural Buildings, Dunedin, on the evening of Wednesda3 r , 21st inst. (being the fiftieth anniversary of the date of the arrival of the Blundell), at 7.30 oclock. Arrangements have been made with the W.Z. railways that where 12 persons or more leave one station the fare will be return tickets for single fare for one day only.
Taieri Cricket Club has a credit balance of £3 2s 6d. The annual meeting decided to enter teams for both the Junior and Third-class Championships. The club's tennis v<er© runners-up last season for the Second-class Championship. Michael Schwab, the Anarchist, lias, it is announced, died in Chicago of starvation. Schwab was one of the seven men sentenced to death for the bomb outrages of 1886, but was pardoned the night before execution. The average attendance at places of worship in England and Wales is computed to be between 10,000,000 and 11,000,000 •persons. There is a place of worship for every 500 individuals, taking the country all through, and a stated minister for every 700. About 80,000 sermons are preached every Sunday. At the head of the list of the big millionaires of Prussia stands M. Rothschild, with £10,740,000, and an income of about £350,800. In one year his fortune increased by more than half a million sterling-. After him comes M. Krupp. with £6,400,000, and an income of £4-50,000. After them come two landed proprietors, with £4-,260,000 and £3,200,000 respectively, and a third with £3,000,000. i Ethel E,.
