LAND BOARD.

i The weekly meeting of the Land Board, held yesterday, was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner), W. Dallas, J. Duncan, H. Clark, and H. H. Kirkpatrick. Mr Curran wrote in regard to section 14, block V, Lower Hawea district. — Recommended for notification at a capital value of £1 15s per acre. Thomas Keenan applied for an extension of his pastoral lease" over Run 226, St. Bathans. — The board had no power to grant an extension of lease. W. Paterson wrote in regard to Run 39, Wakatipu, of which he was lately the licensee. — The letter Avas received. An application by John Comber for section 16, block XI, Tautuku district, was declined ; and Thomas Weir, the pi-esent holder of the section, Avas required to show cause before the board Avithin 14 days Avhy his right to occupy the section should not be cancelled for non-compliance Avith regulations. John Weir applied for a grazing license over sections 36 and 37, block I, town of Kelso, — A yearly license was granted under section 116 of the act at a. rental of 20s. Ranger Hughan reported upon small grazing Run 199e, Teviofc district, and forAvarded*a vaulation of the improvements. — To be reopened as a small grazing run at a rental of 4d -er acre, with JE335 9s 6d valuation for iniproveinents, subject to the approval of the Governor. The Bruce County Council forwarded a statement of proposed expenditure of " thirds ' and "fourths" f or the period from April 1 to July 30, 189S. — The proposed expenditure was approved. John J. Nolan applied for a license to oecuiry sections 58 and 59, block V. Strath-Taieri district. — The application was declined. The Chief Postmaster applied to have portion of section 36, block IV, Gimmerburn district, set aside as a post office site. — It Avas resolved to request the county to stato Avhat portion of the section referred to might be taken for the purpose named. The Receiver of Land Revenue reported that J. F. Anderson and J. Smith, whose leases had been declared forfeited, had now paid all arrears of rent. — The resolution forfeiting the leases Avas rescinded. Thomas Eccles, jun., applied to be allowed to transfer his lease in perpetuity over section 91, block 11, Ardgowan district to David Brodie Park. — The transfer was recommended for the Minister's approval. An application by E. R. Wilson for section 53, block XIV, Lower Wanaka district (village homestead allotment), was approved. All application by Marion Janet Rae to be allowed to complete purchase of deferred ijaynient section 12, block V, " Waipahi district, Avas approved. A. G. Anderson applied for an occupation lease over seven acres at Blackmail's Gully, Fraser district. — A lease Avas granted over the area, applied for at a rental of 9d per acre, subject to survey. An application by M. A. de Bettencor for an occupation lease over 50 acres in the Tarras district was declined. The Receiver of Land Revenue reported, that the following holders of yearly licenses had not renewed their licenses by payment of the current year's rent: — Robertson and Kelly, CJ; arles Cooper, Hugh Cameron, E. A. Aimes, A M. Moncur, Walsh Bros., and C. H. G. Berney — Tho licenses Avere declared lapsed. A yearly license over section 14, block I, Silver Peak district, was granted to Mrs E. Webb, ur.dei section 116 of the act, at a rental of Gel per acre. Section 12, block I, Silver Peak district, and section 13, same block, Avere recommended for notification — the former at a capital value of 10s per acre, and the latter at a capital A'alue of 12 : 6d per acre. Section 16, block I, Silver Peak district, and section 46, block 11, Dunedin and East Taieri district, Avere grouped, and it was decided to reccinmend the sections for notification — the former at a capital value of 17s 6d, and the latter at a capital value of 7s 6d. jt Avas resolved that section 58, block ll,_Dunediu and East Taieri district, be included in the occupation lease granted to James Milne over section 10, block I, Silver Peak district, at a capital value of 40s.
