LAND BOARD
The ordinal y meeting of the- Land Board, held on Wednesday aflernoo.i, was attended by Messis J. P. Maitland (chairman), Clark, Dal'as, Duiiian, and Kirkpatrick.
Applications. — The following applications were gran led — For land under Lpnd ior Settlement Act, Charles Morion, allotments 1 and 2., Teaneraki 'settlement : foi time to pay rent ujjo/i leiuo in perpetuity, section 2, block VI, Kascby chstiict, Mis M'Carlhy; foi iiual land on 1.i.p., .Joseph While, 31111., section 44, block I, Ilighlay district ; to transfer sections 33 and 31, block VI, Table Hill distnet, U. M'Kinnon to K. and .1. Thompson; to complete purchase of defen ed payment land :— Edw.ntl Caiter, section 133, block T, Otcpopo chshict, G. S. Souness, section 42, block IV, C'utlins district; G'eoige Abemcthy, section 81, Mock Vlll, Glcnomaru dishiet, Charlotte Pcrnan, section 3, block V, Lower Wanaka district. The following applications to surrender were refeircd lo the rangers for a report . — John Stephens, section 23 and 26, block 1, Gleuorchy district; Peter Furoe, section 5, block VII, Woodland district; John Uodds, scclioii 16, block XII, Mount Hyde distiict. The aphcation of W. 11. Ure for a license to occupy section 1, block V, Kurow district, and the land ac(|oitun o , i»i all about JO aci'es, was cieclined. 'liic apphcahou of 11. B. Crawford for a license to occupy Ihe Awakimo Eivcr bod fronting s?ction 5, block IV, Kurow, was also declined. It was decided, however, lo issue a bepjise over tho northern portion of the river reserve already fenced in with section 5 at a rent of 7s Gd yearly. Mrs A. L. Chapman, who objected to a license being granted over the whole portion to Mr Crawford, was issued a similar license over portion oi the reserve fenced in with section 4.
Forfeited License.— The Receiver of Land Revenue reported that John Coylo, whose occupation with right of purchase license had been declared forfeited, had now paid all arrears. — The resolution declaring the forfeiture of tha license was rescinded.
Budle District.— Consideration was given to a letter from Mr A. M'Rae regarding section 22, block VI, Budle district, but the matter was allowed to stand over for a fortnight. Herbert.— A yearly license was granted to Joseyli Wauabone to occupy sections 1 to tf.
14, 16, 17, 19, and 22, Mock XVIII, Town of Herbert, under a icntal of 2s Cd per section, o.i condition that the land was kept clear o£ por?e. ilingor Atkinson reported that John Saunders, the. holder of a license evi e sections. A to G, block IV, Town of Herbert, was not keeping the section free of gorse. — Licensee to be informed that if the gorse 13 not cleared of! license will not be renewed.
Kit.ow.— -The application of ]). Sutherland to transfer to John Sutherland his coal license over three acres of ccal leserve, block VI, Kuiow, was considered, but the board decided it had no power to grant an extension o£ time as y-=l-:ed.
