THE GAZETTE.
Wellington, July 28.
The following regulation is gazetted tonight:—" Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in an Order-in-Counoil made on the sth January, 1888, under the provisions of ' The Education Act, 1877,' relating, inter aila, to attendance registers and returns, payment of capitation allowance to education boards for the quarter ending 30th September, 1898, shall be according to the working average of the quarter ending on the 30th June, 1898, as the Avorking average was defined by Orderin- Council dated sth July, 1887, and made under the provisions of the act." Captain Hughes, of the Napier Guards, is gazetted captain and adjutant of the 3rd Battalion (East Coast) Wellington Rifle Volunteers.
The total postal revenue collected for the quarter ended 30th June was £63,735, as
