Prime Canterbury. TO THE EDITOR.
Sir,— There can be no doubb that the value of .this title is almoßt solely due to tho fact of English customers carclesfly taking it tor granted that the Canterbury alluded to is the one at their doori«, aud not a rcraoto settlement: 16,000 miles aw&y. Had Otsgo beeu called after, say, Lincolnshire, she would no doubt have been able to sell her meat to equal advautage and voder equally false pretences. Although we
cannot change the namo of the province to attain this end, I would suggest that we change the designation of our meat, and instead of calling ii Nsw Zealand mutton call it, say " Pritna Liucoln-oierino," which, of • coum e, wouM bo a (.me deicriptiou of ii;. while the word " Liucoin" would no doubt give it a, value in the eyes of English customers which if; at present does not seem able to attain, notwithBtaudiag its excellence as grass-fed meat.— I am, &c, Otago Motion.
