WELLINGTON MOTES.
By Onlookeb,
July 26. The many friends of Mr R. C. Hungerford will be sorry to hear that he has been laid up here with measles and bronchitis. He has had a nurse and doctor in regular attendance. Not having seen-hiiu for a week I naturally concluded that he had gone to Sydney, ami was surprised to learu this morning that tie was laid up. He ii improving, and when I called on him to-day he was hopeful of getting up before the end of the week.
St. Hiko is to be tbe subject of a lawsuit thi» week— so his owner, Charlie Tate, informed m« this morning. Since the meeting it is said that the horse has been sold for £50, and the ownefi states that this was done without authority. The Porirua reprtssntacivea at Riccarton will, X understand, be Opai, Toriki, Headford, and Boreas.
Ifc is stated now that Opal will i>t,aji; in tha Hurdles.
I think that Missfire will win the Hurdles, and one of Percy Johnston's pair the Steeplechase. Ike James is taking Rata down for the Maidca Hurdles. I prefer Headford's chance.
