Four additional battalions of British infantry have been ordered to the Soudan to reinforce Sir H. H. Kitchener.
Jane 4.
A Renter message from the Soudan states that the dervishes have abandoned Shablaka, between Metemneh and the Sixth Cataract of the Nile, and rotired to Elboga, nearer Khartoum.
Twenty thousand British and Egyptian troops advance in August, and are expected to occupy Khartoum at the beginning of October. The railway to Atbara will be completed at the end of Jane.
