OTAGO RUGBY UNION.
The weekly meeting of the Committee of the Otsgo Rugby Football Union, held oa Monday, was attended by Messrs Hunter (in the chair), Campbell, Duncan, Harris, Isaacs, M'Laren, Strong, and Hutchison.
Grounds for fixtures for next Saturday were appointed as follow:— High School v. Porfc Chalmers, at Port Chalmers; High School Second v. Star Second, at the Asylum ground.
An application from the Palmerston Club for permission to play a match ' agaimfe the Hampden Club was granted.
An appeal was received from tb.B Lawrence Club againsb a try scored by the Dunedia Club in a match between teams from the two clubs on the Queen's Birthday. — Consideration was deferred pending the receipt of the referee's report.
Telegrams were read from the Southland aud Canterbury Rugby Unions, the former suggesting the 20feh of August as the date of the match between Southland and Otago in Dunedin, and the latter inquiring if the 3rd of September would be a suitable date for the CanterburyOtago match, which is to bo played in Christchurcb. — The committee were unable to definitely fix dates for the matches, and Messrs Isaacs and Strong were appointed a subcommittee to report on the matter at next meeting. Mr A. Spence, referee in the match Star v. Ravensbourne on the 28bh ult , and J. Low aud C. Burke, of the Raveusbourae Club, who had been reported by him, to the union for misconduct — the former for imputing unfairness bo him, and tbe latter for disputing his decision — were present, and made statements. — The committee decided that the two players in question should be suspended until the 2nd July iuclusive.
A letter was received from Mr A. Millar referee in the match Zingari-Richmond v. Caversham on Saturday last, reporting that he had ordered two players, A. Smith (Zingari" Richmond) and C. Wilkins (Caversham), off the field for misconduct, and a letter was received from Smith expressing regret for his conduct, and stating that rough play was nob intenfcior.al. — The referee and the bwo players were present, and made statements, after which the committee decided that the players named should be suspended until the 16th July inclusive.
