WAIWERA.

June 6. — The weather is very .wintry, but this, • I suppose, we must expect, seeing that we are now ■about midwinter. Although we are getting a good deaLof frost, we haven't, as yet had any ex- ; iireme cold. Agricultural. — The threshing being over, and ' most of fche, grain away, ploughing is being pushed , ahead with all possible speed. I think there will J be a larger area than usual turned up this season should the weather .prove favourable. Changed Owners.— Mr .Blacklock .has purchased Mr Irving's farm, Burnside, at a very satisfactory figure. This addition will make Mr \ Blackwood's a good and convenient property, the ,new purchase being close to his own, which he has so successfully farmed for .years. How a Grazing Run is Worked.— Having, had ; a trip with Mr James Begg and some friends over the Cairn, a large propeity now occupied by Mr Begg as a grazing run, I was much struck with ■his mode of procedure, which I should consider an excellent one. He.has subdivided the whole place iato convenient blocks, so that the flocks and nerds can be separated or.changed, as in smaller holdings. This must certainly be a ,good plan, both ior convenience and for the .health .of the stock. There are drafting yards for each division. The iences are made sheep-proof with .the .most j substantial material ; .indeed, everytlung^eems to be done with a system And for a special purpose, j shewing evidence that there is a thoughtful mind at the helm. I had a capital day's sport with Mr Begg on his property, which, reminded me>of ,the , gooa old days at Home in 'Englau'd, 'where sport-

.ing is so popular. .Mr'Begg has a rare faculty & mtiking one 'feel at 'home. "I am sure even ~oui popular ' Governor would enjoy-a day 'at Willow^ burn and its surroundings, where *much gam< abounds.
