SERIOUS ASSAULT CASE,
Auckland, May 18.
Edward Trevor, charged wifch assaulting. Philip Saaford, was remanded till Friday to sea if bail will be accepted. Ib is understood Sanford is not likely ,to recover. The doctors performed an operation at the hospital to remove a portion of the man's skull. Trevor is a performer at Fitzgerald's Circus. There is no change in young ESanford's condition, and he still remains unconscious. He is the son of Mr 0. Sanford, fiihmonger.
A number of the unemployed Brunner coal miners are scouring the adjacent; ranges with pick and pan. 'They are, reported to have found ground that would pay 20a or 30s a week.
