* Not out. S A., South Australia; Eng., England; Vie, Victoria; NSW, New South Wales ; Aus., Australia ; F. T., First Test. *. * The world's record for an innings score has gone with a crash. Two years ago the Carlfcon Club, playing against Melbourne University, raised the record to 922, but the Melbourne University have now gone one ' better than that and" have eutablished fresh figures. It has for some years been regarded as only a question of time when four figures should be reached in an innings in Australia, and that time has now come, for the University scored 1094, their opponents being the E-isen-don Club. As this is a record which will in all human probability stand for very many years, and as no doubt there are many readers of the Witness who would like to paste the scores away in their book?, I append the full particulars: — University.—First Innings. Smith, 96 balls, 1 maiden, 47 runs, 1 wicket; W. Griffiths, 204 balls, 5 maidens, 137 runs, 2 wickets ; J. Gaunt, 102 balls, 1 maiden, 69 runs; C. Dalton, 60 balls, 1 maiden, 42 runs M. O'Shea, 102 balls, 88 runs, 1 wicket; P. Barr, 30 balls, 26 runs; J. Ramsay, 6 balls, 3 runs. H. Christian bowled 2, Smith 1, O'Shea 1, and, GSrifljths I wide.

It will be observed that there were fire individual scores of three Cgures in the innings. This has been erroneously stated to be a fresh record. It is not so, although it equals a record performance, which also was achieved in Australia, for the Paddingtou team (Sydney), j whßu playing against the Burwood in 1896, scored 726 for four wickets, and five centuries were got—viz, A. C. Mackeczia 155, A. C. Bannerman 122, A. Noble 113, R. Alderson 113 (retired), and J. J. Kelly 106 (not out). SENIOR CUP AVERAGES.
