GRAIN AND PRODUCE REPORT.

Messrs William E. Reynolds and Co., Bond ! street, report for week ending 23rd inst. as follows :—: — Wheat.— There is very little alteration to nole, «.ndso far we have seen no new 'ampler from the south. We quote : 4s 6d for prime velvet, 4o 4d to 4s 5d for Tuscan, red soits 4s 2d to 4s 3d, fowl feed 3s 7d to 3s Bd. Oats are practically without alteration of any kind, and owing to the Australian and Tasmaman harvests how being in the demand is by no means too good. Holdeis, however, are firm, and consequently prices bave not eased duiing the week. We quote: Prime Butherlands nominally up to 2s 3d ; best spairowbills, up to 2s Id ; Rood sound, 2s to 2s Ojd ; ordinary, Is lOd to Is 11 Ul. Barley. — Some new grain has shown itself on the market from the north, and it is very evident ,t>rices are going to rule li'gb. Prime quality v particularly in request, and we can quote same from 4s 3d to 4s 6cl ; extra prime perhaps a shade itnore. Chaff.— Far too much came in during the week for requirements, aud the maiket diopped confiderably. Prime, however, did not fall so much, j 2nd was more readily cleared at from £3 7a 6d to =

£3 10s ; medium again fell as low as £2 12s 6d to £3. Potatoes.— These have also come forward rather freely, and price in consequence has eased, £i 10s to £o being the outside pi ice for best quality. Ryegrass. — The new seed is now offering freely, in fact more so than was expected by the trads, considering the very rough weather experienced lately. The North Island demand has been good, but now that the new seed is on the market it is slackening down a little, and we think quite as high prices have been paid as are likely to be paid again this sei&on. We quote : F r3fc quality, exceptionally clean, farmers'-dre^sed, up to 3s 3d ; if not very clean but heavy and shotty, 2s 10J to 3s Id : and as low as 2s if exceptionally dirty (ex truck, Dunedin).
