Me Thomas Mackenzie, late M H.R for the Clutha, wfiies frora London as follows :—": — " By yesterday's New Ztaland mail I received the following extract from the Post : •Mr T. Mackenzie, the ex-member for Clutha, has j been nominated by the Government as one of the governors of the Imperial lußtitufce. It ia understood that Mr Mackenzie has become a supporter of the Govern<nt;rit. and there is gome talk of his standing in the Government interest at the next geueral election.' The first sentence is correct. The remainder is incorrect." There is still great dissatisfaction with the working of the Government railway between Wellington and Napier. In consequence of another breakdown of an engine yesterday the passengers for Napier reached their i destination, four keais late.
