The Austral Light for February 1898 is to hand from the publishers, the Catholic Publishing Company of Melbourne. The articles are all interesting, and include poems, tales, and sketches by well-known writers. The magasine is well worth perusal. The January number of the Windsor Magazine promises well for the year's attractions. "The Latest Great Explorer" is a, deeply interesting article ab the present moment, dealing as it does with the explorations in the East I of the Swodish traveller Dr Sven Hedin ; numerous photographs illustrate the article, ! which is written by Robert Sherrard. Another | interesting article ia " An Interview with Sir J, i Benjamin Stone." In fiction, two new serieß of stories — of the description now so popular-— commence in this number. They are respectively : entitled " Jennie Baxter, Journalist*," and | " Tho Emperor's Detective." Women wll find an appreciative comment for the illustrated article "Economy in Dress," and Max Psmberton's serial story " Kronstadt," together with some short stories, combine to make up a very attractive number. i ~
